African American Hall of Fame Inductees
The Morrises were inducted into the African American Hall of Fame Museum in 2011, recognizing their decades of service to education, social justice, and community advancement.

ISU Library & Reading Room Naming
In recognition of their generosity and influence, Illinois State University named the Dr. Jeanne B. Morris & Dr. Charles E. Morris, Jr. Library & Reading Room in the Multicultural Center in their honor—an enduring tribute to their commitment to student success and social equity.

Million Dollar Club Award
Charles received ISU’s prestigious Million Dollar Club Award in 1991 for securing more than $1 million in external grants and contracts, strengthening academic programs and research opportunities at the university.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Relations Award
In 1979, Dr. Charles E. Morris, Jr. was awarded the Town of Normal’s Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Adult Human Relations Award for his leadership in promoting justice, fair housing, and community collaboration. Dr. Jeanne B. Morris later received the same honor in 2007, recognizing her own decades of community service, advocacy for equitable housing, and commitment to educational opportunity.

Jeanne was named one of the “Women Who Shaped Bloomington-Normal,” honoring her advocacy for fair housing, her groundbreaking work in early childhood education, and her lasting contributions to the wellbeing of children and families.
